The third lens is a micro lens, it is a 40mm lens. I am very happy with this lens. I bought this lens for product photography. For product photography you have to be able to come very close to the product, so you can catch the detail of the product.
Currently I am looking an every occasion lens that can be used in low light places, can be used for a portrait, group, close up and fashion photography. So basically I am looking for a replacement of my 18-55 lens. I find purchasing a lens is quiet time consuming, it’s because you need to know what you need and what the offers are on the market. To find the right lens you need to do some resets or a lot better if you can try the possible lenses for a couple of days. Last week I found a shop in Amsterdam that rents lenses and the prices are very attractive. The name of the shop is budgetcam.nl
So last week I have rented a 50 mm lens for 4 days. After 2 days I know it is not the lens that I need, it is not because the result of the pictures are disappointing but the contrary of it, the 50mm makes very beautiful pictures. The reason why I won’t buy it is because this lens is very similar with my present 40mm lens. The 50mm lens has an excellent bokeh or blurry effect but my 40mm does also, may be a bit less but the difference is very small. My 40mm makes better pictures for micro pictures than the 50mm. So the conclusion is that 50mm lens is not a possible replacement for my 18-55mm lens but it might be an excellent lens to extend my product photography lens collection.
Below picture is made with 50mm. The 50mm has problem to make a close up, as you can see the color is really light and the bokeh is gorgeous.
